哪位能点拔我一下下面两句话错在哪里?谢谢!!!

This newspaper cost 50 cents as much as that one.
As many as or more than 250 newspapers are published here.

另外Prep2008破解语法p80
There is one PC for every 32 pupils in American four time as many as there WERE four years ago.

谓语为神马是were而不是was?比较的不是one PC for every X pupils吗?

1.This newspaper cost 50 cents as much as that one.   costs吧
2.As many as or more than 250  pieces of  newspaper are published here.  newspaper 一般按照不可数处理的

3.谓语为神马是were而不是was?比较的不是one PC for every X pupils吗?---因为there be 是要求 就近原则的 。

costs吧。。。as many as 和 more than 一起用不是啰嗦么。。或者理解句意不清楚

^cost可以理解为过去式,这两句是Manhattan SC Review Idioms单元as... as用法下的,归为wrong。不知道错在哪个点上

第一个:
This newspaper cost 50 cents as much as that one.
-->  50 cents as much as that one是无意义的.
如果as much as修饰的是50 cents,那么much就是做adj.,而同时as much as向后修饰时,应该做adv.来修饰省略的cost.
所以much就有了双重身份.
能肯定的两点是50 cents as much as这样的结构一定是错的,as much as后面加破折号一定是对的.
但是我不能肯定在50 cents之后加上逗号是不是就对了,虽然说这样as much as更可以跳过50 cents修饰cost,但是as much as作为一个appositive modifier依然有修饰50 cents的能力. (怎么说至少比原来的好,我的经验是不能肯定排除某样东东的时候,那么就先认为它是对的。)

OG有个类似的题,但没说语法上的错误,只说了逻辑上应该是oler than.
OG10-5, OG11purple-33. Carbon-14 dating reveals that the megalithic monuments in Brittany are nearly 2,000 years as old as any of their supposed Mediterranean predecessors
(A)  as old as any of their supposed
(B)  older than any of their supposed
(C)  as old as their supposed
(D)  older than any of their supposedly
(E)  as old as their supposedly

Exp. from OG10: Choices A, C, and E do not state the comparison logically. The expression as old as indicates equality of age, but the sentence indicates that the Brittany monuments predate the Mediterranean monuments by 2,000 years.
In B, the best choice, older than makes this point of comparison clear.
B also correctly uses the adjective supposed, rather than the adverb supposedly used in D and E, to modify the noun phrase Mediterranean predecessors.

Exp. from OG11:
Logical predication + Diction
The original sentence has two problems.(1) Comparisons must be logical and easy to follow. The Brittany monuments are logically older than the Mediterranean ones. Therefore, the appropriate comparison uses the phrase older than, not as old as. (2)Adjectives,not adverbs, modify nouns. The phrase Mediterranean predecessors requires the adjective supposed.
A  Suggests two sets of megaliths are equally old,not that one is older
B  Correct. This sentence makes the proper comparison and uses the adjective supposed.
C  Suggests two sets of megaliths are equally old,not that one is older
D  Makes correct comparison;adverb supposedly used instead of adjective supposed
E  Suggests two sets of megaliths are equally old,not that one is older
The correct answer is B.
第二个:
As many as or more than 250 newspapers are published here.
--> At least 250 newspapers are published here.
--> More than 250 newspapers are published here.
--> 250 newspapers are published here.

欧,今天才看到班班大人引经据典的解释。多谢啦
加上我自己的理解再复述一遍,有不对请指教!

This newspaper cost 50 cents as much as that one.

无意义。因为前后比较对象不一致,要么改成cost 50 cents as much as the price of that one要么就是the newspaper cost as much as 50 cents.(这句不是比较句)
Carbon-14 dating reveals that the megalithic monuments in Brittany are nearly 2,000 years as old as any of their supposed Mediterranean predecessors.

这句话没有语法错误。只是题干中的逻辑暗指应该是older than。后面的any of their supposed无错。于是,十万个为什么的我又要问了,我化学无能怎么推断出older than?题目哪里暗示我了?

This newspaper cost 50 cents as much as that one.**as引导的比较结构。原句会产生歧义,无法判断是主语比较还是宾语比较。 就像: i like you as much as tracy。无法判断是i 和tracy 比较还是you 和tracy比较。
正确的形式应该是as much as that one did.

As many as or more than 250 newspapers are published here.
** og上有一样的题目, as many as 和more than 不能放在一起用。因为这样意思不清楚,究竟是as much as 还是more than。
og上给出的答案是 at least 250 xxxx。

另外Prep2008破解语法p80
There is one PC for every 32 pupils in American four time as many as there WERE four years ago.

谓语为神马是were而不是was?比较的不是one PC for every X pupils吗?
**这个我也不清楚,原题上只能说这个答案最优选。 要么就是这里有一个省略和倒装。 four times as many (computers)as (computers)there were four years ago.

我有一点不明白,你说The newspaper cost 50 cents as much as that one. 错误是因为容易混淆,不明白到底是说that one和50cents比,还是that one和this  newpaper比。那么请看这句话:
We have as least as many apples as you.
我真是怎么看怎么觉得这句话容易混淆,到底我的苹果和你的苹果一样多,还是我有的苹果数和我有的你的数一样多。但是曼哈顿笔记上说这句话正确。照此推论,The newspaper这句话又如何产生歧义?谢谢!

It's nonsense. "As much as" isn't quantified by a number, because it means "equal".

If you mean to say that the prices are the same, you'd just write This newspaper costs as much as that one.

If you mean to say that each of them costs 50 cents, you could write This newspaper costs 50 cents, as much as that one. (Notice "comma + as much as that one" is now a modifier describing the price.)

Or, if the 50 cents is a differential, then you could write This newspaper costs 50 cents more than / less than that one.
