我记得某培训机构的老师说，考简洁时，同根词比较起来的话，动词>形容词>抽象名词>动名词。在这里用D项用了a protection，即protect的抽象名词形式，不简洁。
而这里他用“a”protection修饰 “ essential items ”（复数）当然是不对的啦~

某机构的培训老师说：能解释“using the noun form protection creates wordiness”，偶也上过“某”培训机构，哈哈

追问，

in addition，
有人说：按照idiom规则，“method后面不能加to do，应该加of 或则for”， 真的假的？

我查了一下词典，还真没有method to do！惊了…………
朗文 给出的词组只有method of/for (doing) sth
牛津高阶 (of sth / of doing sth)
另外，那个“The prepositional phrase”就是以介词开头的短语，就可能就是不简洁吧…………呃……不知道了……同问

偶认为OG D explanation：

上面3句话，OG想指出3错误！！！
2）想说明: 动名词比名词好
3）想说明：a protection与items不一致
但是，
1）The prepositional phrase as a protection of warriors is awkward and imprecise;
这句话想指明除了2）3）以外的问题，具体什么问题，偶现在还不知道。这个是想请教的！

如果1）也是想指明“动名词比名次好”，个人认为没必要说2遍吧！否则，此题解释直接using the noun form protection creates wordiness 足以！
看到1）中提到“ prepositional phrase”，因此我想指明的问题应该是与“介词短语”有关，
我妄想OG是为了说明：
                                 I ，介词短语在做目的状语时候，没有正确选项protecting动名词好！---------这个是解释1）中的imprecise
                                 II，as a protection for warriors，比 as a protection of warriors更能清晰表达目的，of表示不了目的-------这个解释1）中的awkward；

当然对1）中imprecise和awkward的解释，的确是我妄想的！因为我的不确定，所以才请教NN们！

是不是我太专牛角尖了？在看OG的时候，没必要分清OG解释中的awkward、imprecise、wordy各指什么，更没必要分清一个选项解释中第一次用的awkward和第二次用的awkward不同之处！
