Come to think of it, it's actually a good thing that Maryland rejected me, otherwise I actually have to debate whether I should go there or wait another year for a chance at the schools that I really want to go.

Well, it's probably over this year for me, unless enough people reject offers from my dream school, but I know the chance of that happening is slim.

I am starting to prepare for next year's applications. Anyone?

I understand your feelings. I am sure everything will work out for you. Even if you have to reapply, you may be just like the guy who got an offer from Stanford this year.

All that matters is the spirit to chase the dream.

Maybe another good thing is that I didn't apply to too many programs this year, so still plenty of new grounds to explore next year.
In some cases I made it pretty far, so even if that's still not far enough this year, I'm willing to give myself another chance next time.

Best wishes for your reapplication. I believe you will succeed. However, just an advice, we have to admit that there is not a benchmark for the admission to Ph.D. program. So, make sure that you will prepare you much better for your reapplication than this year. Gook luck to you and all others who have a dream and keep trying to realize it.
