这道题的答案是D 只是不明白not...but是老生常谈的平行问题了 但是选了D以后 变成了 are not the products...........but are simply...  Be动词在这里，这不是整齐的平行啊。是不是not...but...（以及他的兄弟们 not...but rather; ...not...; ....rather than...)都遵循这种规律呢？

A/B/E  明显不对。

主要纠结在C/D

因为中间有个补充说明的插入部分（favored because they enhance reproductionor survival) , 所以but 后面需要补出are, 指明结构上 simply random by-product是和products of natural selection 平行的，否则容易产生歧义。

同意楼上的，加上are，句意更明显一些，lz读读句意就知道哪个更好一些了

不是产生了歧义，是说D比C的表达更清楚，更容易让你接受后面那句话是和前面那一部分平行的。
