总是不明白than在比较句型中什么时候是代词、什么时候只是比较句型中的连词？

我觉得全部补全应该是这样的

由于than，as 在比较结构中可以引导定语从句，括号中的部分可以省略，这与ＥＴＳ的解释一致：“If than is followed by a clause referring to army, the subject of that clause must be singular (it).

同样这句话这样表达也没错，Although Napoleon’s army entered Russia with far more supplies than (supplies） for any previous campaign， it had provisions for only twenty-four days.

介词短语修饰名词。由于是名词与名词的比较supplies 可以省略。
