The majority of students entering law school are female.
Why the verb is ARE instead of is?
Cause i'm wondering that the majority is single, so to my understanding the verb should be is.

Can anybody can explain? tks

U r right, students are plu.
But in this sentence the Subj is the majority, so to my understanding the verb should be is.

主谓一致中有这样一条:有些名词,如variety, number, population, proportion, majority 等有时看作单数,有时看作复数。例如:
 A number of +名词复数+复数动词。
 The number of +名词复数+单数动词。
A number of books have lent out.
The majority of the students like English

The verb is determined by the noun in the subjective, not majority or minority.
eg: The majority of students are female.

Are is determined by Students.
