She's a current 2nd year student. Her background was in modeling and show direction. She's going to study abroad in Paris next semester and potentially doing another intership with LVMH in Paris. We have another Chinese girl interned at Chanel in NYC doing marketing strategy the past summer and her background was in finance and then marketing (prior to bschool). Speaking about resources, there marketing classes touched on fashion but you can always and encouraged to take classes at fashion design school at Cornell, which has a good program in fashion design - well, not necessarily better than FIT, RISD or Parsons but more technical and academic (from an outsider's perspective).
Johnson has a luxury retail club where students get exposure to top fashion brands and leaders in fashion industry and make frequent trips to NYC to meet folks in the industry.
I know few fashion companies come to Johnson for recruiting, but you may have to do more networking through clubs, alumni network, etc. Am sure this is the same for all bschools. Since we have a fashion & design school at Cornell so you do have the benefit of using their alumni and career services as well. Simply put, there are many resources at any of these top institutions, but it is completely up to you how much you would like to leverage and how hard you stick to you goals.
Hope this helps.
Hi, As mentioned, one of you got intern in Louis Vuitton as fashion marketing. I'm currently in banking, thinking of switching to fashion industry. May I get to know more about the background of that specific alumni and ask some questions: 1. what's available in Cornell relating to luxury / fashion / retail (i.e. courses/ network/ club/ etc) 2. any insight about finding jobs / interns in the fashion industry after MBA graduation?
