OG12第一题！！关于分词的修饰，很疑惑！！！！！！！！！

答案D我没意见，但是我对C很疑惑
OG上说之所以不选C是因为naming开头的这个分词短语不能修饰James cook，因为James cook在句子中是做宾语的，所以naming开头的短语只能修饰句子的主语，不能修饰宾语

而事实上，我做到过很多题目，分词短语都是可以修饰前面紧邻的那个词的，因为naming紧跟着james cook，所以我认为可以修饰。OG上有很多题目包括解释都暗示着分词短语可以修饰其前面紧跟的那个词，而不是主语，所以我对C的解释很疑惑

请给位NN解释一下 谢谢 类似这种分词，什么时候修饰句子的主语？什么时候修饰紧邻的名词？

关于我的理解，我举OG上一个简单的例子，第30题

30. For members of the seventeenth-century Ashanti

(C) protecting
(D) as a protection of

OG上解释说protecting...很好的修饰了items of equipment，但是这里items of equipment也是宾语啊，如果按照OG第1题的解释的话，protecting...只能修饰该句的主语了。

ing分词在GMAT中大多是修饰整句句子，或做分词修饰主语（多放在句首），对逗号前面的先行词应该用which,和who做引导。

相反，which和who在GMAT中不能修饰整句句子，而只能修饰它前面的先行词。如发现它不是修饰前面的先行词，即为错误选项。

OG的解释是说JC是介词的宾语（你直接理解成宾语了……）

你举得30题的例子可在回去看看OG的解释，C选项好像说了protecting在形容items(或者说items of military equipment这个整体)不是介词的宾语，所以可以修饰。

--------------------------那请问要是jc不是介词的宾语，只单单作为宾语，后面跟naming能修饰jc吗   还有在gmat里是不是一般不用since引导原因从句啊 那as，for之类的呢？ 是不是最好都用because啊？
