普林斯通 一道比较的题目 求解(已解决 比较省略还原待人解惑)

我还是有几个疑问  呵呵  交流阿
首先 C 和E  只有 saw 和  have seen  的区别  别的都一样 如果在这2个中选 而时态又都可以的话  那么为什么不选 E 和前面保持一致 那样不是更好么?

看了你关于省略的部分 我不是太清楚
in numebers far greater than expected.
in far greater numebers than expected

据我所知 :   只有当than后面共用前面的主或谓语或宾语 时可以省略
这就要求完全一样
那么是不是 than 后面的省略还原成如下:
按照c还原的话 saw stars exploding in far greater numebers than in expected numbers
按照A还原的话 saw stars exploding in numebers far greater than in expected numbers.
上述两种还原对不?怎么比较?

好像是选E吧你可以google一下就明白了上面有很多老美的讨论

应该是选E，时态上saw和have seen是不平行的；
D的话，修饰词应尽量靠近，numebers than expected这种方式比较好，因为比较的对象就是numbers

saw在这里不符合平行结构 无明显时间标志词或逻辑要求用过去时
D和E的 and have seen 以及seen 都是可以的

now with numbers five times greater than这种形式以前在一道老题里面也是错的……umm...不过我觉得单纯看in numbers far greater than 和 in far greater number than没有区别。
但是本题里面如果前面有了exploding in numbers far greater than，这个far greater than有做状语的歧义。
但是如果是the numbers of stars exploding are far greater than expected就是正确的，因为有are的存在避免了上面的歧义。
所以在本题，in far greater number than更好。
