57. That educators have not anticipated the impact of
microcomputer technology can hardly be said that it
is their fault
: Alvin Toffler, one of the most prominent
students of the future, did not even mention
microcomputers in Future Shock, published in 1970.
(A) That educators have not anticipated the impact
of microcomputer technology can hardly be said
that it is their fault
(B) That educators have not anticipated the impact
of microcomputer technology can hardly be said
to be at fault
(C) It can hardly be said that it is the fault of
educators who have not
anticipated the impact
of microcomputer technology
(D) It can hardly be said that educators are at fault
for not anticipating the impact of microcomputer
technology
(E) The fact that educators are at fault for not
anticipating the impact of microcomputer
technology can hardly be said

特别是OG说 “it also distorts meaning and lacks completion.” why it lacks completion?

1、Construction "that it is … who have not" is wordy and awkward;
这里的"it is the fault of educators who have not "并不是强调结构,who从句只是作定语而已,it的指代确实不明确,如果写成"it is educators who ",才能算是强调句;既然连强调句都不是的话,句子层次有点复杂了。

   It is only shallow people who judge by appearances.

2、it also distorts meaning and lacks completion.
(C)翻译:不能说 { 是教育者的责任 [ 那些没有预料到微机技术影响的教育者 ] }
没有预料到微机技术影响上 ] }

C. it is the fault of educators who have not anticipated the impact of microcomputer technology...
我的理解是,后面的who只是educators的修饰成分,那到底what is the fault???  it指代不明...

A.That educators have not anticipated the impact of microcomputer technology can hardly be said that it is their fault -  ambiguous "it" (also awkward construction using that)

B. That educators have not anticipated the impact of microcomputer technology can hardly be said to be at fault -  “to be at fault”doesn't make sense

C. It can hardly be said that it is the fault of educators who have not anticipated the impact of microcomputer technology -  unnecessary "it"

D. It can hardly be said that educators are at fault for not anticipating the impact of microcomputer technology -  no problems here

E. The fact that educators are at fault for not anticipating the impact of microcomputer technology can hardly be said -  awkward & passive construction

Tip: ETS favors active voice over passive

D is best
