我本来也觉得是Buddha images，不过后来又多看了几眼，我现在觉得大概是 construction and decoration were enshrined in the temples. ：）

因为除了temples和images，其他的名词都是抽象的，也不可能被称为they。

所以在没有其他指代对象的时候, 可以指代Buddha images

enshrined很高端个人觉得是指 the creation of Buddha images and on construction and decoration of the temples 整个这个东西 in which they were enshrined 只是修饰temple 说明the creation of Buddha images and on construction and decoration of the temples 都在temple里
