“我想问一下B和C选项，
假如B项中的时态改正确了，
即until almost 1900 scholars and critics did not beginseriously studying
C项中的问题也改过来，
即not until almost 1900 scholars and critics began seriously studying
这样的两句话中 until的用法对吗？”

我了解E选项是最优的，因为用强调句式突出对时间点的强调，我只想问B和C改良了之后，结构上是不是正确（即去掉until almost 1990后面的“逗号”）。

umm...这里必须用形式主语it，要不然重心严重不对。
单纯从until的用法来看，not until提前到句首了，后面是要用部分倒装的。
所以应该是not until almost 1900 did scholars and critics begin to seriously study...

那么单纯从until的用法看，下面三个句子对吗？其实我想问
A. not 和until一定要放在一起吗（即下面2对不对）？
B. 如果not 和until 放在一起时，not until almost 1900 必须放在句首吗（即下面3对不对）？


1. until almost 1900 scholars and critics did not begin seriously studying

2. scholars and critics did not begin seriously studying until almost 1900

3. not until almost 1900 did scholars and critics begin to seriously study

前两个句子需要用过去完成时，语法上其他都没问题~不过前两个句子逻辑上有点问题。

斑竹，恕我愚钝，缘何前两个句子需要过去完成时？


是因为前两个句子是表达“直到...., 他们还没有...”？而如果是not until... began studying，就是一般现在时了？


另外，为何说前两个句子逻辑上有问题？

momo...是我看错句子了，没看到前两个句子后面还有not，以为就把前面not until的not删掉了。如果是not往后移，逻辑上就没问题了，同时用一般过去时也没问题。
