似乎也看过其他题，选alone比较好。想问alone在GMAT里面是否是一个优先选择？是否有这样的条例 = = ||

不知道是否有条例，但是根据简洁原则，alone好点吧

(A) was the only one of the five-nation Iroquois League who sided ----one of somethings 后面something必须是复数，但是后面的five-nation Iroquois League 是单数，是一个联盟，所以是不对的


(B) was alone of the five-nation Iroquois League when they sided 其实要是分不清along of与one of sth 的区别就算了。后面的they其实指代错误，是league sided with the colonists ，league是单数。


(C) alone among the five nations of the Iroquois League sided



(D) were the only ones out of the five nations of the Iroquois League in siding -----were 错了 in siding with the colonists,这个逻辑意思也不对。



(E) only of the five-nation Iroquois League had sided ———had 时态错啦，根据原文的意思，无法推断出sided是在过去的过去发生的。

至于是否along有优先原则，我觉得不好说，完全要按照意思来。

应该没有这样的条例吧。
这道题，ABD逻辑都不合理，E时态错。

这么解释不知道可以不可以。其实A应该也是没有错的。但是alone是形容词。明显要比the only one 简洁的表达意思。一下子可以杀掉ACD

I'd like to add other points of view to this question:

1. "five-nation" is actually an adjective. So, the five-nation Iroquois League is a singular noun phrase. We cannot say "one of/ alone of/ only of / the five-nation Iroquois League". i.e. these constructions seem like "one of apple/ alone of apple / only of apple". So, we can kill A, B and E.

2. in Choice B, "they" has no clear referent, because "was" already signifies "the Oneida" as a singular noun that is not consistent with "they", and because "Iroquois" actually acts as an adjective(Pronoun can only refer noun and noun phrase).

3. in Choice D, "ones" groundlessly assumes that the Oneida consist of more than one nations and, in turn, changes the meaning.

4. in Choice E, past perfect tense "had sided" has no ground, because there is no specific past-time sign on which past perfect tense should be based.

d的were没有错 the  oneida  是复数，ab立马排除

这题就是一个明显的倒装结构，还原之后就会发现只有alone可以：
the Oneida alone sided with the colonists during the American Revolution among the five nations of the Iroquois League.
换成only
the Oneida only sided with the colonists during the American Revolution among the five nations of the Iroquois League. 改变了句子原本的逻辑意思：原句是只有the Oneida老哥一个 sided with the colonists during the American Revolution，变成only后意思改变为the Oneida仅仅sided with the colonists during the American Revolution，the Oneida仅仅做出了side这么一个动作，没help，也没support，就仅仅是side with。这不明显改变逻辑意思吗？


谈论了好几年都说到点上。。。。

对A的解释不对吧。
原文要表达的意思是“Oneida was the only one(in a League) sided with the colonists”, 即那个League中的其它4个部落都不住，只有Oneida和殖民者住。
而A错误是因为Who：1.就近指代了League（本应指代Oneida），2.导致了逻辑错误
