看来harvard果然像某人所言是打酱油的。。话说JAE的editors有几个不是big name毕业的？

系里rank top3,但department在commitee vote时候没有拿到任何financial aid名额。依然会发admission，但也没意义了。
去年gwu招了三个人，今年在八个系分四个financial aid名额的时候被排挤，也就是说今年没有办法招人。
在umn interview的时候和顾老师聊了许多，印象最深的是顾老师拿着JAE往桌上一拍：You tell me, which of the editors graduate from Harvard?顾老师感慨的说中国人喜欢chase big name，但其实尤其重要的是有老师带你帮助develop a good taste，他说当初有个学生被yale和umn同时录取了，做的方向是theroy，顾老师说umn更好，那个学生非要去yale，结果三年后被kicked out了。
Anyway，我估计要去加拿大了，现在的offer是在lsu和alberta里面选，lsu的chair打电话说先给offer，喜欢再去campus visit看看，lsu的两个老师不错，无奈teach太重，看来我不得不去和北极熊做伴了。

我还记成了6个系分4个名额。。。那真的好激烈啊。。。LZ的老师有没有提到是哪些系拿到了么～～～

其实我本人开始还是倾向于lsu的，因为毕竟在美国，但lsu第二学期开始就要teach一门课（是instructor不是TA），而且coursework结束之后要teach两门课一直到结束，这样的teaching load对做research是很不利的。
其实也想用lsu保底来等4.15的其它学校，但感觉这些学校除了明大之外都归于看自己的类型了，只能指望以后publish好些了，另外peter chen是alberta出去的，算作榜样。

I am also in the 3 people recommended to the department actually. And end up with a 6th rank after a school wide vote.

Chao Hui: did GWU mention to you some outside source fundings? I think they offered me some scholarship from a Chinese fundation which could cover the first two years. But for the rest of the program, there is a lot of uncertainty.

Besides, anyone know about Baruch and GWU. I am waiting for Baruch's decision next week. Don't know which one to choose if I really got that one.

That's among one of the things I am concerned about. But they told me that the placement is not very good only because people don't feel like leaving the nyc. And it is obviously very difficult to get into nyu and columbia . The rest of the schools are just not good research schools. Any thoughts, comments?

我有个GWU毕业的师姐说GWU不是个很重research的学校，教授在外面的活都很多。
