HKUST or CUHK or CEIBS?

I    have spent 4 years working in Sydney after I    got my first degree from NZ.        I want to take a break now and is considering    to go for a MBA.     As    my family is in Hong Kong and    I    am interested to    work in    China, I am thinking about the b-schools in the country.     From all the information that I have, HKUST, CUHK and CEIBS sound to be the best schools in the area.     Can any one (alumni,    students    or even professors, if any) from these schools    share with me their experience?

Thousands of thanks,

Kim

Hi, Kim, I'm Marco from Seoul.

Are u a Korean?

I think you can find some hints from this board about your question but,

I don't think you will have to follow others' opinion since your career    was

different and will be different from others.

As for me, an international applicant,     I decided    to go to HKUST because 1. the school has    more and better    professors than others    so that        I can expect better quality of education especially about finance area which is the most important industry of Hong Kong.     Considering HKUST is a pretty young school, I think    it's    effort and academic    excellence is great.

2.    Though the school has    about 50% mainland students, it also has    about 30% international students so that    I can expect both China concentration and gloabl    diversity which I want to get during my MBA.

3, the programe will give me to a chance to go to Beijing University or CEIBS by exchange student so I can make more    chinese friends and improve my basic mandarine during my MBA.

As you understand, however, all of three schools don't have    good repuation beyond this region. So, I recommed you'd better to prepare to    go to US top schools if you're enough young, enough rich, and if you don't have    a concrete goal of why MBA.

However If you    really want to go to theses schools,     I also recommed you do your MBA as part time in HKUST or CUHK while continuing your job.

Hi Macro,

Thank you for your sharing.     I am learning Korean but I am not a Korean.     I am actually from Hong Kong.

Are you studying in HKUST now?     How do you find the course and the school?

Sorry for my late reply.

I had a short trip with my family and I returned Seoul yesterday.

I'm not a current HKUST student and I'm going to go HKUST this year.

I talked with Korean alumni about HKUST MBA course and they said that the first

6month is really tough.

I also heard  it has no vacation but 18 month intensive programme with internship,

field project and mandatory exchange progrmme.

Though I talked with serveral people including a professor who worked one of  Universities in Hong Kong for years and recommended me to go to HKUST, I don't think I have enough information about the school.

I think it is better for you to contact alumni in Hong Kong directly and I wish if you can share more vivid information with me.

Marco
