窃以为fewer people will enter the labor force in the 1980’s than did in the 1960’s and 1970’s.之所以将did补出是因为后面有时间状语in the 1960's and 1970's导致比较对象的谓语时态不同, 因为比较对象是主语而非宾语或谓语动词。那如果将时间状语变为地点状语省不省呢？如：fewer people will enter the labor force in China than in US. 还望各位解答小弟疑惑。

可不可以这样理解？若在分词作状语的分词结构中出现more than 并且比较的对象是分词中的宾补，不能省略主语及助动词，这是为了避免将比较对象误解为主句主语

或者可以这样看，ten years ago 只是一个状语部分，在分析句子主干时可将它略掉不看，这时就没有比较对象了。

所以省略时以不造成歧义为准
