(E) are geared toward enhancing the performance of athletes and preparing them

C 改变了原句的意思，使performance和preparation并列作enhance的宾语。
D enhancement和preparing并列，名词和动词的分词形式不一致。
E enhancing和preparing并列，好。

单纯从结构上看，我仍然觉得C：问题不大，至少不值得排除。但是C改变了原来的意思：
貌似我今天看我以前的错题，很多错误都可以这样排除掉：
原文的意思是：：提高他们的表演水平 及 使他们为国际大赛做准备
C吧意思改为：：提高他们的表演水平 及 提高他们为国际大赛的准备工作。。。是不是吧整个意思都改了？
