No. Your interpretation is totally nonsense. Research is not just about interest, not to say how much a PhD degree is relied on interest. Researchers may change interests from time to time. Even if you graduate with an Econ degree, you may still do research in finance or accounting or whatever you are interested in later, and make great achievements.
However, I believe you don't want to pick up an interest now, lose it someday in the future, and say you have to give it up and find a new program. And you don't want to repeat such a process again and again. |
