Movies which range from cartoon to fiction have come to reflect every aspect of our lives and, as a result, people’s appetite is changing at a speed that it quite unprecedented. It is so ubiquitous that why movies are so popular is much discussed. Among countless factors to explain the trend, diversity of entertainment, source of knowledge, and method of relaxation should be considered as most conspicuous reasons as follows.



No doubt, thanks to the invention of the first phonograph, the movie industry announced the inception of a new source of entertainment, which contributes the diversity of enjoyment. During the 20^th century, since people are bored with barely any amusement, movie definitely stepped into their lives and provided half of dozen films to feed engager appetites. Although the productivity was not plentiful, people were almost satisfied with the offerings rather than none. I always recalled my grandmother that her life became exciting when a new film was going to be showed in the adjacent cinema. She had a good habit to save monthly salary, a big portion of which was spent on the luxury treat – watching a movie. Thus, the most striking change that movie brings us is obvious that it diverse the assortment of entertainment.  



In addition, movies also offer the audience a new source of acquiring knowledge in a visual way. Going back the history of movie development, not scarce kinds of historical and natural contents of works exist among us, to name a few, 10000 BC, Trojan War, and Tornado Terror. We can not only enjoy stories on a dramatic method by huge production cost, but also obtain the book knowledge on an extending platform for deeper understanding. I used to learn some escaping skills when natural disaster happens. For earthquake, I should immediately hide under the desk or in a small structured room for temporary safe. As I elaborate, the audience may have chances to learn knowledge, more or less, which is beneficial to them in the future.



Furthermore, a bare advantage of movies is relaxation. Currently, people undergo a great deal of pressure that comes from various directions, including work, school, and so forth. Stress is detrimental to health, personality, and relationship with others. To keep healthy and work efficiently, an increasing proportion of people prefer to enjoy movies during the weekend to spare their leisure time. Undoubtedly, watching movies is an indisputable method to escape from work pressure for a while.



In conclusion, watching movies appeal to the whole world, no matter it is a diversity of entertainment, knowledge supplement, or method of relaxation, we should admit that it is instrumental to people’s life.
