是不是有点怪怪的，我对固定搭配，词的使用不太熟，说不出所以然，但是应该是compete with each other更顺吧...好像也差一点儿...

而且GMAT好像非常不喜欢把状语加在主语前面，尤其是在助于用的是代词的时候，他会觉得离其只带对象太远了

下面是从国外的一个forum上copy下来的，觉得很有道理

"Whereas" and "although" are both correct. We can't choose between A and B on the basis of these words.

The reference of the pronoun "they" is unambiguous in both A and B. It refers both logically and grammatically to the subject of the preceding clause "lines." We can't choose between A and B on the basis of this word either.

What makes B wrong is the phrase: "as competing companies one day may be partners the next." The separation of "competing" from "one day" confuses the intended meaning. In A, "companies that compete one day may be partners the next" is clear and logical.
