it really depends on your background. You can find a decent job in Canada with an Ivey MBA if your pre-MBA experience is great. Ivey has a very strong network in Canada, especially in Toronto. It is also well know in NYC, but the presence is just not strong. There are Ivey grads working as Ibank associates in NYC, but they are all Canadian citizens who do not need H1B to work in USA. If you are not a Canadian citizen, you best bet after the degree is Canada, HK or mainland China. One other thing is that the Canadian MBAs are usually paid much lower compared to their USA counterparts. Among all Canadian schools, Ivey has the highest pay which is only about $100k including all salary, bonus and relocation expense. It may be partly due to Canadian companies do not pay as much as USA companies. Location matters, but doesn't matter too much. Look at Tuck which is located in the middle of nowhere, but it is considered better than most b-schools in USA. Ivey's strong presence in Canada makes up for the geographical disadvantage. By the way, the living expense in London, Ontario is about 1/3 of that in Toronto. A 1-bdrm in London, ON costs 500-600/month, but in Toronto, it costs 1500-1600/month. |
