Here's how I'd tackle the problem:

我选择了b，但是答案是a。
b里面，because of doing sth：because of increasing supply and lowering price 我当时理解的是，这个increasing 和 lowering在这里是形容词，译：逐渐或正在增长／降低的。所以ing形式是木有错的

不过楼上说because of 应该用by代替，这一点很有说服力，仔细读发现thus很好得体现了顺承的关系，这是a选项中which不能表达的。

好吧我叛变了， 选a... 这个题有猫病啊，不过get到point就好。。。
