这题答案是B, 我错选了D 

解释说D是拿children与figure比较，所以错

问题：还是后置定语的问题，为什么compared不可以直接修饰a half hours a week ，这样逻辑是对了吗？？

对的，做后置定语一般都修饰它前面的词，可以有逗号的

还有一个规律，一般ed形式优先考虑做后置定语，ing形式优先考虑伴随状语

但显然例1不是后置定语，不能修饰adulthood

再补充一个例子（均来自prep）

l         Changes in sea level are not only a result of changes in water temperature, affecting water density, but of melting glaciers as well.

伴随状语affecting只能修饰主句的动词性谓语, 不能修饰主句系动词are, 在这里affecting修饰water temperature，
不合逻辑

主句谓语是系动词are ，为什么可以用伴随状语 leaving修饰？？？？？
