还有4天就要考试了,今天写了一篇AI,不知要改进哪里,哪位好心人帮忙看一下。谢谢!!!! 题目: “When someone achieves greatness in any field — such as the arts, science, politics, or business — that person’s achievements are more important than any of his or her personal faults.”
文章: When we evaluate a person, one’s contribution and faults are always considered. We should not expect a perfect person, and everyone will make some mistakes. we should pay more attention to one’s greatness than faults, and not negate the person just because of the faults. So achievements are more important than personal faults.
Fist of all, when one’s miss is so small that we can neglect it, definitely, his or her contribution is relatively more important. For example, Newton discovered the theory of universal gravitation, which established pivotal foundation of modern science. But in his old age, he was engaged in Alchemy which proved to be failure, and some people criticize that that was his fault in the road chasing the truth of science. Newton’s fault is neglectable, however, when compared to his tremendous achievement. His contribution plays enormously important role in the process of scientific development and his greatness is far more important than his fault.
On the other hand, some person’s fault is relatively large, so that it easily conceals the achievement even though the contribution is significant. Nevertheless, we should acknowledge that the person’s greatness has been benefiting the people, and without the person’s achievement, they could wait for the advantages another couple of years, or the history may change its direction. For instance, the largest fault of former president of South Korea, Roh Moo-hyun who suicided this month is that he accepted illegal political capital. It’s his ethical blot being involved in the corruption scandal, however, he greatly pushed the democratic development of South Korea, and put the progressive forces to the central of Korean political stage. Korean democracy could not gain such a great development without his contribution, and Korean people could suffer from the disadvantage of totalitarian rule. So we should not deny a person’s achievement even though that person made a great fault.
One person’s fault is spread more easily than the greatness, because human nature force us pay more attention to the wrongdoing than the good, so as to we can protect us from danger. One experiment showed that good news, a celebrity donated enormous money, was transmitted to 12 people among 100, nevertheless, bad news, a star suicided, was transmitted to 98 persons among the same number. The experiment gave us answer that why we are more sensitive about one’s fault than greatness. Despite of our nature, we should see through the essence--one person’s achievement influences our society and life actively and positively.
In sum, despite of some faults, someone’s greatnesses should be acknowledged because they greatly benefited other people, and person’s contribution is more crucial than any of his or her fault. |
