大全269 争论无数 再问一个问题

答案是A

但我记得OG里也有一道考doubt的题，就是大全的553，OG里说doubt n/v, 用于否定时，用that引出从句；用于肯定句时，用whether/if引出从句。

那为什么这个偏偏是肯定句用that引出从句呢？？

LZ看得很仔細...我都記不起OG有說過(汗..)

當我看了OG11#58的explanation, 我也覺得大全的那題應該用whether/if.
可是我再去看Garner's Modern American Usage, Garner是認為doubt that應該用於negative sentences, statements of skepticism, and questions, 而doubt whether用於affirmative statements of skepticism. 所以, 能用doubt that的時候就能用doubt whether.  可是能用doubt whether的時候, 並不一定能用doubt that.

OG11#58對doubt whether的用法很可能說錯了.  因為新的OG12#69就是OG11#58, 可是它把"In other contexts, whether or if should be used to introduce a clause following doubt: I doubt whether he will come."拿走.  代表*很有可能*這個statement是錯的.

也就是说doubt that既可以用否定句，也可以用在怀疑陈述，不论是肯定还是否定里；而doubt whether只能用在肯定的怀疑陈述？对吗？
