在朗文上查到说pollutant也是可数名词

请问16题中的pollutant是怎么回事呢？

16. 所有的不可數名詞都可以變成可數如果是在說它的種類. e.g. certain pollutants是表某幾種pollutants.
16題用less是因為它在說the amount of certain pollutants. amount是不可數.

可是版主，amount题目中没有啊，虽然可以这么理解，但是还是觉得很奇怪......
而且pollutants是可数名词

16题把certain pollutants视作一个整体，是指pollutants总量的减少，而并不是说"更少种类的pollutants"(更少种类的话就用fewer了).

刚才复习看到这道题，是不是选amounted to less的原因也是因为指costs的amount，用less？

看过以前的帖子，说是less是adv，fewer是adj，所以要用adv来修饰动词amount...这种说法对吗？

请指教

less能做adj.,adv.,n.,pron.,determiner)，fewer则不能做adv.

用less可以从两个方面看出来，一个是你说的amount，另外后面one percent of the $541是一个number,说明应该视前面的costs为一个整体，所以应该用less.在此作名词.

我的意思是还有没有其他例子是说用了less/fewer会使句子的意思变化，就像你举例的一样，一个是总量少了，一个是总类少了
