umm...我是想用example來指出X number of Y/X amount of Y之類的東東在主語的位置時, Y才是動詞的真正的executor... twice as many trucks我*覺得*是可以, 可是as many指的對象很遠, 不太名顯... 舊的OG上好像有這一題...忘了
alienx举的例子怎么才能说明X number of Y在做主语的时候executor是Y而不是X呢？amount和acreage都是单数名词，我觉得这个例子不好。 另外还是不明白 that number 比the number好在哪里？ 其实the也是有指代作用的呀，记得小学老师说，用the就是讲话双方都没有歧义的知道the A 的那个A是啥。在这句话里，我们都知道要是说number，肯定只有那个46900一个number可以说啊，大家都知道说的是那个number呀~（这么想不知道对不对）
2） C，twice the number of trucks的核心是 the number，所以the number作主语含义错，因为the number是无法came off the assembly lines的；
3） A也同C错误，不是数字从生产线上生产出来，应该是两倍数量的trucks came off the assembly lines
4） B正确。因为twice that number，就是因为 that的出现，使得that number指代46900这个数字 ,twice that number of作定语修饰trucks，因此but后面的句子的主语twice that number of trucks，和前面的句子主语 a total of 469,000 cars and trucks形成对比关系。从逻辑及含义上正确。
In 1914 a total of 469,000 cars and trucks were produced in the United States, but in 1929 almost twice that number of tucks alone came off the assembly lines. = In 1914 a total of 469,000 cars and trucks were produced in the United States, but in 1929 almost 938000 tucks alone came off the assembly lines.
