我的情况该怎么办

WM is not a research oriented school, however, it is very selective in terms of faculty.I really do not know if my recommendation is a plus or nothing.

My recommendors are:

Kim Smith, who has worked in SEC office of Chief Accountant as a research fellow. Because of her network, our program had an opportunity to visit SEC and talk to its commissioner.

One senior professor who is going to retire.

One new professor who specalizes in litigation and accounting. She worked in a famous litigation consulting firm and worked closely with many professors from TOP business school such as Edward Altman.

find some professors that are active in research (WM does not have a PhD program, but the faculty members still publish, right?) The reason is that, if your recommender is active in research and is doing good research, committee members of other schools will know that, and your recommender's RL carries more weight.

Or, say, if you are very interested in school A, and professor X in WM is a coauthor with some professor(s) from school A, then you can ask professor X to write you a letter.

谢谢ls。有个问题请不要见笑，我的professor接触的都是极牛学校的人（standford,Conell,etc)，而这些学校我的背景又太弱。如果申些差校，又没人认识我的professor。研究这东西隔行如隔山，如果professor做的是management compensation, voluntary disclosure，是不是我申其它的方向就比较难呢？

另外，做RA多为帮老师查查资料，除了ps可以写的充实些，对申请的帮助具体是什么呢？

WM没有经济学master，你不能去选经济学的课，这个是很大的劣势。而且9个月毕业确实很仓促。

关于牛校：既不要高估自己也不要低估自己。
牛professor： 只要他在牛杂志发过文章，别人应该认识，这圈子真的很小。。。
研究方向： 无所谓的。
ps: ps基本是不看的，当然还是要好好写，否则也没啥可改进的

是啊，当初费了九牛二虎之力做了WES又拒了n多学校来到这，觉得当初的努力都白费了。

到底要怎样的背景才能被录取呢？其实就是差了一门两门的课又没处修。W&M算是master里面最selective的program之一，如今反而成了劣势。难道真的要去读一个数学master才算好的背景吗？

You got it. Master in accounting is for those who want to seek for jobs and thus provide very little training for academic research. Some econ background is more desired in accounting phd admission. Last year we had an econ phd drop-out, and this year we admited one who is from the master in econ program here.

Yes, master of accounting is for professional training. Besides, your undergraduate school's reputation is also well important.
