It stands for "Marvelous 7", including HBS, Stanford, Wharton, Chicago GSB, MIT, Kellogg and Columbia. It is said that because the deans of these schools get together annually to share how to operate and develop their schools, some people (maybe from business week forum originally) started to call them M7.
