这个句子是Like A， B do的极致，真是好啊，这个要是摸透了以后就不怕了。

前面几位nn分析的都很正确，我有一个小窍门，这样的结构，如果能把A和B位置颠倒，而语法和逻辑上还能通顺就是正确答案，当然首先要用基本方法，比如主谓一致和代词指代等，把一些明显错误选项排除。

Like the grassy fields and old pastures that the upland sandpiper needs for feeding and nesting when it returns in May after wintering in the Argentine Pampas, the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States is a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in farming practices.

A. the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States
   is a result of residential and industrial development and of changes in单复数不一致，排除。vanishing只能修饰sandpipers说明sandpipers正在美国东北部消失，不能解释成句子主语

C. that the birds themselves are vanishing in the northeastern United States is due to residential and industrial development and changes to THAT引导的主语从句与Like后边的名词不对称，另外changes to不符合习惯搭配

E. in the northeastern United States, the sandpipers’ vanishing, a result of residential and industrial development and changing主句没有谓语动词，排除

D. in the northeastern United States, sandpipers’ vanishing is due to residential and industrial development and to changes in这句看着语法没问题，但是如果把Like A，B do中的A，B对调就成了 Like sandriper's vanishing, the grassy fields and old pastures is due to residential and industrial development and to changes in,翻译过来就是：像矶鹞的消失一样，草地和牧场是因为居民和工业发展……，逻辑上将不通，顾排除

不知我解释的对否，请大家积极讨论。

这个句子其实不难，Like A ..., B... 这里要求AB是同一属性的东西。这个句子认为那种鸟和草场一样是消失了的，因此得到Like the grassy fields ..., the bird itself。

A/D/E选项，把grassy field 和 sandpipers vanishing放在一起类比是不对的，更何况something's doing sth也是GMAT不允许的；

其实这个题还是蛮有有意思的，用Like A, B does 句型来比较两种看起来非常不相干的东西，其实正是看起来不相干，使得我们必须找到其共同点：both A and B are vanishing，而且其原因是相同的 -- as a result of ...。只有找到这个共性，才能正确选择到答案。

A. 仅仅说了the sandpipers are vanishing，没有体现the grassy fields and old pastures [[are also vanishing]], 也就是没有找到Like A, B结构中AB的共性！

C. 一个that 使得句子是两个从句连接，没有主句; change to中的介词也不对

DE同样没有主句, 句子结构不完整

怎么能找出 vanishing 这个共同点。 B选项还是在说 bird is vanishing, 怎么牵涉到 field and pasture 啦
