一個面試問題

今天收到UTA的電話,對方只問了一個問題, "Are you serious to my PhD program".當時,自然反應立即答是,很仰慕UTA等等. 跟着對方說, 如果收了一個學生但他不接受offer會對大學造成很大影響,所以他才問這問題,但這個電話不代表offer,只是department很大機會shortlist你. 整個對話過程只有三分鐘,對方好像很忙. 我現在很迷茫,我的"yes"是不是表示不可接受其他大學的offer? 如果最後不接受UTA offer,會不會跟他們交惡?還有,現在不是真的offer,對我來說好像沒有保障. 如果下一間大學又問我這問題,我該如何是好?

Be relax. It is not as tough as you think. Just be honest. He just asked you whether you are serious about their program, but did not ask you whether or not you will definitely accept the offer. They can reserve their final decision for you, you can also reserve your final decision for them.

If you are not serious, why do you apply then? So just be relax.

It is actually strange to me that there is large negative effect on the school if the admitted student declines the offer. Even most top universities see studnets who decline their offer, and it is quite common, just as they decline some top students.

Lz, just be confident and say you are serious about the program, since I believe most people here are. It's your right later to choose among multiple offers.

我今天也遇到个类似问题,对方一小学校,对我挺热情,说要给我offer,但又怕我不serious.可我手上啥都没有呢,怎么能不serious
