不同意leeon的这种解释，如果是括号中的三部分并列构成which定语从句的话，在 50 times sweeter前面应该有连词and，各成分之间只有逗号没有连词，不能认为是并列。而且，which定语从句的谓语动词用的是过去时was，如果是并列的话，那was也主导后两个成分。但是，从句意上看was from the licorice 和 was 50 times sweeter than sucrose 很显然是不和逻辑的。

我觉得这道题很奇怪，没有一个选项的表达是没有歧义的。B也存在歧义，50 times sweeter搞不清是修饰 substance 还是修饰 licorice plant 。 我觉得最好的表达应该是这样：

50 times sweeter than suncrose, a substance recently discovered from the licorice plant is not only a natural sweeterner but also prevents tooth decay.

这道题真的很奇怪，未划线部分的题干本身就违反平行原则：

is not only + N but also + 句子。
