但是我不明白，Although 只有连词一种词性， 即使按照答案这样理解，Although不就抛弃了它作为conj的本质了么？？

不好意思，原来你是想说gmat只承认although 是连词，是这个意思吗？

我知道你一定是被og11th 上那道题搞晕了。

是这样，although是连词没错，并且连词altough+doing和这种结构在gmat里也是被承认的，相当于although sb is doing这种结构的省略用法。你还可以看到although+done的结构。参考prep。

我个人，对altough的理解是，放在句首，允许altough+doing，although+done，句中句末不允许。

B. As含义是作为，  citizen不能作为population。
