排除A 的原因是逻辑意思不合理。

但我没有想通为什么不合理啊？ 有谁能解释下

在新东方的一个规则里面，如果发现rather than 和 instead of ，那么优先选择Rather Than

因为做这些题就是为了应付考试，所以我也不知道为什么，但是我迄今为止没有发现这个说法的反例，所以你就用着吧.

说说我的看法。

Instead of 这里的of是介词，of后面怎么可以加不定式呢？ 要用instead of 后面就必须是confining them...，这样会破坏parrellism.

那麽楼主可以想想 如果只是instead 可以吗？如果只是 rather可以吗？

也不行，应为单独的instead 和 rather都只是 副词， 副词不能连接并联的不定式结构。也不能连接其他的任何并联结构。
你不能说：I go to school insted(rather) airport.
          也不能说 I want to play a game instead（rather) to take a shower.


要做到平行必须在副词后+连词即rather than， 这样惨能习惯上构成平行结构。

在要求句子前后平行的gmat里rather than的使用范围比instead of要广。
