这道题GWD答案C给错了,大家快改啊,PREP正确答案是B,

谁来讲讲应该怎么做,我选了D, 彻底不会了....

是不是考平行结构啊? in 1950s, there existed some 4000 , but today there are fewer than 1000.

这题因为drive-ins可数，明显排除A/D/E。

但是在B/C中，我有点困惑。B中as many后面肯定有省略（我补充在括号中）。C中的那个that amount 感觉表达的逻辑意思不够清晰。而B中补出省略部分，意思很清楚，没有歧义。

        there are fewer
            than one-quarter as many (as there were in the late 1950s).

请教NN有关C不是最佳选项的理由。

4000即4000 drive-ins,可以看做省略,后面要用复数形式的谓语动词。
且看GMAT里面AMOUNT的用法解释是：amount is for undifferentiated masses such as sand or water，
因为4000 drive-ins是4000个不同的个体所以that amount不可以修饰4000.

同意zjpopo对B句的还原，不过个人认为后面改成as many (as those in the United States in the late 1950s).

C中的that amount有點問題, 邏輯上that amount是指some 4000, 可是amount是代表不可數的東東, some 4000明顯的可數....

另外：less在这里是不是也不对？修饰可数名词应该用fewer ?

"少于原来的四分之一"；关于less和fewer的选择关键在于把要修饰对象看做一个整体还是一个离散的东西，差不多也就是可数与不可数的意思。
