    比较对象，我觉得比较的是一个句子，并非只是the elderly

比较对象应该是补全后than前后的两个部分，对吧？
ft,我先前认为比较对象是the elderly是多么荒谬呀，两个完全一样的东西有啥可必的

想想有点问题：补全应该是

     the elderly in the United States are four times more likely to give regular financial aid to their children than (the elderly are likely）to receive it from them.

     刚少了likely

     我做比较，一般是拆分句子做，这样看的比较清楚，比如这个句子，我是看成两个句子的：1。the elderly in the United States are likely to give regular financial aid to their children（4份可能）
      2。the elderly in the United States are likely to receive it from them（1份可能）

      呵呵，很老土的办法，对我很有用，自从我用这个土方法后，省略什么一看就清楚了
