题目advertisements make products seem better than they are
The extent to which advertisement make products seem better than they are involves in a conflict between conventional wisdom that the functions of products on no occasions be exaggerated and the recent concern over the potential negative effects advertisements can exert on misleading the consumers. I hold the belief that advertisements indeed dramatize the functions of products by using false information.
On one hand, in order to maximize profit of the products, a number of advertises take the risk of increasing the amount of information in an advertisement by using the false statement. For instance, some drugs, which are seemingly effectless, have been cried up as remedies for all the diseases, that is to say, these pills are dramatically described as a kind of panacea. Only in this way can these drugs fascinate the consumers, most of whom do not have a clear understanding of advertisements. What is worse, some surveys have demonstrated that in the recent years, an expanding number of patients die of these inferior drugs, which are stated as perfect products in advertisements.
On the other hand, advertisers usually change the shape of products for the purpose of satisfying those modern youngsters, which form the major parts of potential consumers. However, producers merely change the surface of these products, for it is obvious that people prove to be focusing their eyes on the seemingly glorious figures. These products can be shown better in advertisements for the simple reason that they appear to be superb, however, the interior structures fail to be transformed.
However, as an old saying goes," everything has its two sides” and this issue do not seem to be an exception to this proverb. Some credible advertisers prefer to losing the consumers rather than overstating their products, for they never remain suspicious of the importance of credibility to them. In contrast, those faithful advertisers will adopt other effective methods to highlight the advantages of their products, such as comparing current goods with previous ones, which enable audiences to realize that the purchase of their commodities are deserving and worthy.
In conclusion, from what have been discussed above, whether the methods adopted by the advertisers are false or credible, it is undoubtedly that advertisements make products look better than they are.
