同问。。。我觉得首先不可能修饰littered吧，因为都不是名词。

介词短语的副词用法中的几个用法:

1.修饰动词   He spoke in a great hurry.

2.修饰形容词  Mary is good at cooking.

3.修饰其他的副词   We live nearest to the church

4.修饰全句   He admitted, to my amazement, that he didn't know.

             In other words, we had to give up our plan.

我认为often from所修饰的应该是litter，但是B这里好像是修饰orbits的。或者说这里也和现在分词一样，修饰的的是前面那个现象？

这个问题里所说的often from修饰orbits应该是指，from介词短语修饰动词，其逻辑主语是orbits。但是在这里逻辑上不同，orbits不是from***的。而第四种用法倒是可以解释得通--修饰前面整句的内容，也就是该event是来自于****。

umm...ing短语作状语时我没见过修饰全句的，貌似都只是修饰动词或者什么都不修饰的。我想在这点上ing短语和介词短语有区别吧
