                (A)   正确, as a result后面接名词的并列结构,表达正确,简洁
    

(B) as a result of后面加动名词不好,且根据未划线部分and the clearing判断出as a result of后面应该是名词

(C) removal是remove的名词形式,因此不用the removing表达remove的名词形式

(D) which不能指代句子,在这里没有指代; removing应该改为the removal

(E) which不能指代句子。

我的疑问是:

1、"clear"不是也有名词形式"clearance"但原文用“the clearing”代替，为什么不能用“the removing”代替“removal”？

2、GMAT一直强调连词“and"的前后部分必须平行对称，“the removing of ”与“the clearing of”完美对称，为什么正确答案不是C?

3、答案A是官方答案吗？如果是，有没有官方解释呢？

來個不知道對不對的非官方explanation:
B is out: as a result of + noun
C is out: 因果顛倒, 再加上: 句子, resulting from...本來就不可能對, 因為"句子, verb-ing ..."中的"verb-ing ..."是前面句子的隨伴(結果); 可是resulting from就把因果顛倒了
D and E are out: which不能指代句子

致於clearing vs. clearance, 我覺得是因為clearance是用來表示"清貨" or "(海關之類的)檢查"...可能很少用作noun表"清除"...不是很決定...

LZ可以參考一下OG11th(purple)的passage #1, 有一句:
Agriculture, slash-and-burn land clearing, sewage disposal, and manufacturing that creates waste by-products all increase nutrient loads in these waters.

读题的时候觉得A对，就要想到用排除：

ＢＤremoving逻辑主语不正确且不平行

Ｃresult from的主语需要是名词，而不是一个句子。比如The increase in rabbit population results from...而不是the rabbit population has increased, resulting from...多么别扭一读就知道。

Ｅ比Ａ要繁琐wordier。

所以还是Ａ最好

然后ETS的几个偏好大家一定要知道（不一定和大家学校学的语法规则完全一样）

比如Neither...or... Either...or的谓语都用单数而不是靠近原则　Neither Tom nor the twins IS of age.

require, need等动词后面的从句不用should，直接用动词原型

名词形式优于ing形式

大家可以去做个总结。

参考Kaplan出的《GMAT800》里头的一些ETS的偏好总结。就是这样的例句，没有什么靠近原则。我也很震撼。

umm...可能我的Kaplan GMAT 800跟LZ的不一樣...沒看到有總結...
我懷疑Kaplan打錯...因為我看了幾本grammar books, 對either...or...跟neither...nor...的subject-verb agreement都一致...而且ManhattanGMAT(一所廷有名的GMAT preparation organization...所有導師都是760+)出的書都一致認為either...or...跟neither...nor...的subject-verb agreement看就近的noun...

我看到白勇语法里面说，resulting from 只能作定语，不能做状语，而as a result of 是作状语，不用作定语或表语。

所以在这里作状语就不能用 resulting from， 所以C错。

不过我也觉得A的这个并列有点别扭。
