求助Prep2－37（选项谓语与原文谓语不一致的题目，与要忠于原文有出入）

做这题的感觉似乎像是在做那种在限制性定语从句和非限制性定语从句中做选择的题目。

“are attempting to clean and preserve the American flag that flew over Fort McHenry in Baltimore in 1814”不能做插入语，因为插入语去掉不影响句子的意思表达，但这句话去掉了，意思就不对了。

仿佛插入语的概念是补充说明，也就是说，即使没有插入语应该仅仅是句子不严谨，不会构成逻辑构成不能。而这题读题时候会发现在排除插入语后会有指代不清的现象，那么就要考虑同时发生的两件动作的关系。愚见。
感觉还是靠attempt to do 最好排除。目标 指示 倾向性 用 to do

单从做题来说，选项很好排除。至于it的指代我认为可以考虑插入语去掉的情况，去掉后it指代明显没有了。至于it具体指代的什么，在原句指代相当模糊，没有确切的指代。S and H are hoping that it will last。。。。in their attempt at  cleaning and preserving the flag。。。我也很疑惑到底从理论上it在原句是怎么指代的。。。

B选项使用 are attempting改正了这个错误，attempt做谓语动词，hoping表主动引导从句；逻辑上it的指代也明确了；由于it指代是根据逻辑意思，所以last 200 years的，并且clean和preserve的，就是flag。
我也晕了。。。。。。我不是牛。。一刚来的。。愚见。。
