同意以上的观点。（但，我感觉也不是绝对的）体会一下下面的句子：
OG259. Five fledgling sea eagles left their nests in western Scotland this summer, bringing to 34 the number of wild birds successfully raised since transplants from Norway began in 1975.

The "-ing" (present participle) form introduces action that is simultaneous with the action of the main clause; i.e., bringing indicates that the number of wild birds became 34 when the sea eagles left their nests.

不一定。
分词在句尾，有两中可能。
其一做全句的伴随状语
其二修饰紧贴之前的名词。
所以分词在句尾要小心歧异

呵呵, 偶刚接触语法,  还请各位多多指点:
1. VING 可做表语, 定语和状语, 介词宾语. GMAT考做定语和状语的时候多.
2. VING做定语时和一个定语从句差不多, 但GMAT的考点在于是不是应该用分词做定语. 因此要注意: A. VING表示正在进行的动作
        B.表示经常性动作或现在(当时)的动作.
        C. 如果句中有表示该动作已经完成, 则不能用VING.如OG-80, 这里不能用VING做定语.
楼上所说"其二修饰紧贴之前的名词" 属于该中情况.

3. VING做状语, 置于句首和句尾. 这种情况下, 分词的逻辑主语和它对应主句主语是一致的.(好象我也没说错哦).  
A. 表示和主句同时进行的动作.
B. 表示主句的结果, 一般放在句子尾巴上.GMAT考得比较多, 比如楼上的OG-259,  而GMAT中WHICH不能指代前面整个主句, 因此VING显得简洁.

以后皆参考了张道真的语法.

从这个意义上说能肯定B选项是错的么? 恳请大牛指点..

从逻辑上理解，整个句子是不可能using一个东东的。而作为动名词，必定要有逻辑主语的。从B选项来看，只能是heartbeats。但是，这个从逻辑上来说，是不对的。和A犯了一样的错误。

首先，分词作状语必须要求主谓一致

其次，B的语序改变了句子原意。原句强调的是using a D ultrasound device这个方式，B则强调的是结果。ETS有个思想是effectiveness，大家可重视！
