没有想到会给我那么高. 对topic都没社么idea, 打字也很慢, 不过保证尽量不出错,最后留4分钟左右check. 感觉copy paste中心句是个好办法, 一来节省时间, 二来, 不用费尽得paraphrase, 其实我得paraphrase水平比较差, 很容易给产生歧义. argument没有生套7宗罪, 把说理结构搞好, 然后寻找一些好得实例. issue用了AWA800推荐得结构, 考试之前看了10篇黄金80,摘了些句子做模版,模版附上给大家做参考.

65. “The rise of multinational corporations is leading to global homogeneity*. Because people everywhere are beginning to want the same products and services, regional differences are rapidly disappearing.”

 

Is the rise of multinational corporations leading to global homogeneity? To some extent, I agree that the pop culture of the developed countries is embracing the whole world. However, different cultures still retain their unique characteristics despite the fact that multinational corporations are ubiquitous. Moreover, multinational companies make efforts to adapt to differences rather than make the homogeneous products. Therefore I will argue that the rise of multinational corporations is not leading to global homogeneity at all.

 

First of all, different cultures around world still retain their unique characteristics in today’s open world, because the way in which the world culture is evolving is a process of synthesis rather than invasion. A classic example is the menu offered by KFC China, one of the world’s leading fast-food chain restaurants. The restaurant not only offers the original recipe, but also includes a wide selection of local favorites which turns out to be very strategic and successful.  Therefore, many differences still exist although they are synthesized and thus difficult to see.

 

Second, multinational companies are making efforts to adapt to differences rather than make the homogeneous products. An illustration of this principle is the notion of globalization and localization put forward by those successful multinational corporations. Multinationals are well aware of the fact that success lies in precisely recognizing the local difference and putting it in the global context. Therefore, the multinationals don’t intend to and won’t lead to global homogeneity. On the contrary, they will preserve the differences.

 

Admittedly, it is impossible to ignore the overwhelming effect of globalization. Brands from the developed nations are dominant around the world. In China, brands such as McDonald’s, P&G, Nike and GE are more popular than local brands. However, most of these products sold in China are made according to the special needs of the Chinese people and very different from those sold in the United States.

 

In conclusion all the evidence presented above strongly support my view that multinationals are not leading to a homogeneous world. This view will become increasingly dominant given the rapid development of some developing countries such as China and India. The cultures of those countries will get more respect and add more variety to the world culture.
