确实C选项更好，从比较对象对等的角度来说。
the comet 和its return 来比较，没有the comet 本身在不同时期产生的影响来比较的好。
此外，句子把状语提前起到强调的作用，是不是也进一步说明把此作为比较的对象核心呢。。。偶想应该是这样的吧

这个例子确实用得好，但我觉得和这道题还是有区别的，这里的比较双方是In no other election 和in his presidential race of 2008.，逻辑上讲确实是对应的“在两个事件中”，就够上的对称自然不用多说了

但我们来看原题，如果选C的话，对称双方是In no other historical sighting 和in its return of 1910-1911，我们从逻辑上考虑，前者的施动者应该是“观察者”，是一种由人发出的动作，而后者in its return of 1910-1911中的施动者是哈雷彗星，且“在哈雷彗星的回归中...”和“在对哈雷彗星的观测中”，显然在逻辑上存在不妥
    

当然了，这也只是大家拿来讨论了，困怕在考场上很少有人这样分析了，所以我觉得这道题重点还在与大家对倒装的辨识，这点练会了才是王道啊
