我认为it应该省略，这个更明显，你接着往下做prep，会发现，前后两个句子，如果主语一样，后面那个主语一般都省略

个人认为：
姑且不考虑是否要在and前加，
直接认为 被and 连接的部分若句子完整，在语法上它跟主句平行。导致在逻辑上错误 没有与之对应的部分平行
PREP 里面有很多这样的例子：

lbiologists are recommendingthat some states cut back on trout stocking and they even remove the troutfrom some popular fishing lakes

they even..为完整独立句子，应与主句biologists are..平行，但逻辑上是与 states cut…平行. 且句子平行，they应优先指代主句主语即biologists，逻辑错

并列句子和主句的主语并列（discovery）,逻辑错，应是与宾语从句并列
