答案是E。怎么会有numbers的用法？？

这道题只能选E，如果非得解释为什么用numbers可能是作者要强调数字连年下降，每一年的数字都在减少所以用numbers。

如果改成 the number of wild salmon就更好了

其他选项错误太明显
