Though the presence/absence of 'that' are both acceptable, GAMT always favors the presence of that when it is leading a subject clause, but an case in favor of omitting 'that' is the occurrence of the word 'that' just a few words away; a sentence containing the words '...so prevalent that it was said that...' would be awfully ugly.

In chioce B, unfortunately, the sentence changes the original meaning.

一只松鼠被说成它能跳过...

意思是有差别的的

考点，SO THAT，DCE全部排除，被动没有主动好，GMAC经常搞点插入语来迷惑我们！所以肯定是A！

我开始也有同样的困惑，毕竟GMAT的语法是it is + 强调部分 + that/who... 强调句必然要有that。所以起初我选B。但B的问题多了，a squirrel was said 后面要加 to do, 比如said to be able to ... 就会通顺，加that是错误的。仔细看A，另外一个so that的that刚刚出现在句子中，a few words way又来一个that似乎符合语法习惯但不符合通顺、简洁的原则。在不影响句义的情况下省略掉第二个that似乎也没有错。所以还是选回A吧

Question one's answer is A because, as you guessed, the use of "that" just a few words away makes the sentence sound more awkward than it needs to. "so prevalent that it was said that a squirrel could" doesn't have the easiest flow to it. The earlier "that" is enough to connect the two ideas. A second "that" would be needlessly repetitious, and most writing experts will urge you to delete any non-essential words. As for the other phenomenon, it's easier for me to gauge what you mean if you provide an example.
