个人认为B，拙见如下

B.       the cheetah species is especially vulnerable to disease because of its homogeneity 中species是单复数同形名词，与its搭配说明了这里用的是单数形式，而不能说这个搭配不正确。

E.       members of the cheetah species are especially vulnerable to disease because of their homogeneity 中的their有指代不清的嫌疑。确实代词有优先就近指代原则，但一句话中同一代词一定（注意不是优先）指代相同事物，未划线部分已经出现了their，并明确指代了clones，E选项中再用their指代members就不对了。

关于clone与什么搭配比较合适方面我查了字典，仅作参考

Clone：a group of two or more individuals with identical genetic make-up derived, by asexual reproduction, from a single common parent or ancestor.

species(pl species): a group of individuals have common characteristics, specialized from others of the same genus

member: a person who belongs to a society, club, political party, etc; an animal or plant that is part of a group

clone和species都是group，但member指的是group中的成员，似乎cheetah species比members of the cheetah species与clone搭配更好。

其实我最初选的是D，但看了各位nn的解读后，觉得B更靠普，希望大家展开积极讨论。

我有这样几个问题

1.两个their不是都是指members of the cheetah species? 这样的话，句子如何翻译呢？

2.clones到底跟谁比较？只能是members of the cheetah species吗？不能是the cheetah species吗？

当然如果第一个their指代的是members of the cheetah species，后面就需要代词单复数一致，必须选E了，只是不明白E怎么翻译呢？

其实我觉得GMAC答题的错误是有顺序的，这道题中的their的确是指代不同，但是根据“五里挑一”原则，平行比较显然应该在判断的最先考虑位置。PREP中也出现过相同的情况，its指代不同（题号我忘了），也是一个相类似比较。个人意见，仅供参考O(∩_∩)O~
