我觉得， 如果是 vanishing of the sandpipers 或者 the sandpipers' vanishing 才可以作为一个result. 如原题vanishing in .....是定语。

为什么我感觉  the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States is a result of residential and industrial development 里边 the sandpipers vanishing in the northeastern United States整体作主语，是一个result呢？？
