NTU has 3 different types of scholarships offered to international degree students. These include, "The General Scholarship", "NTU Scholarship" and "NTU Support Funds". Additionally, individual colleges or departments/institutes may have other scholarships to offer to their international students. You may inquire to the office of your department/institute or your college. The section below offers brief introduction to the 3 types of scholarships offered by NTU.

| | | | | |  | International Graduate Student Scholarship |

|  |  | International Graduate Student Scholarship is offered by National Taiwan University to NTU degree international students. The number of winners is 20 for new-coming students and 20 for continuing students every year. For the continuing student the application information will be announced in March every year and period will be in April. Please refer to the following guidelines for the detailed regulation of eligibility. |

|  | | I | Purpose
The purpose of the scholarship is to facilitate academic exchange with the international community by attracting outstanding international graduate students. |

| II | Eligibility
1.For new international graduate students: the granting criteria are based on graduate ranking, GPA from the previous university, published papers and study proposal. 2. Continuing international graduate students who fit one of the following criteria are eligible to apply: | (1) | For whom have completed at least one course per semester with a combined grade point over 75 averaging of all accomplished years in NTU; and have not received a written reprimand or more severe penalty from NTU as a result of misconduct. | | (2) | For graduate students who are writing their theses and did not take courses in the previous semester: The combined grade point must be at least 75 average of all accomplished years in NTU. In addition, a letter of recommendation by their advisors along with a thesis proposal is required. (The thesis proposal must include research motivations and objectives, methodology and research design, data sources, thesis outline, and references.) Students must not have received a written reprimand or more severe penalty from NTU as a result of misconduct. | | (3) | For students who serve as President of NTU Foreign Student Association: with a combined grade point over 70 averaging of all accomplished years in NTU; for the students who are writing their theses, please refer to (2). Application of this type should be submitted with a report on the activity and achievements of the association; each student may submit this type of application only once. |

| III | Application Schedule
1.New international graduate students: New international graduate students should apply for the scholarship while they apply for admission to NTU.
2.Continuing international graduate students: Continuing international graduate students should apply for the scholarship to the Center for International Academic Exchange according to the published schedule and regulations in April every year. |

| IV | Number of the Scholarships
1.For new international graduate students: Twenty awards are available each academic year. The number of awardees will be proportioned to the number of applications to each college.
2.Continuing international postgraduate students: Twenty awards are available each academic year.

| V | Amount of the Scholarships
1. For master programs: NT 20,000 per month. 2. For doctoral programs: NT 25,000 per month. |

| VI | Time Span of the Scholarships
| 1. | From September of the award year to the following August. | | 2. | A new international graduate student’s scholarship will not be retained after his deferral of admission, and shall be awarded to the next student on the list of finalists. | | 3. | The scholarship should be terminated immediately after awardee’s suspension, withdrawal or graduation from studies, and shall be awarded to the next student on the list of finalists. | | 4. | The maximum length of time a student can receive the scholarship is two academic years for students in master programs, and four academic years for students in doctoral programs. If an alternate has received the scholarship for more than 8 months, he or she shall follow the code above as students who have received scholarship for one year. |

| VII | Cancellation of the Scholarships
Should a scholarship holder get a written reprimand or more severe penalty from NTU as a result of misconduct in the awarding year, the award will be terminated in the month when penalty is finalized. |

| VIII | Scholarship Eligibility Review
1. For new international gradate students: shall be reviewed by each college and processed while ratifying the applications to NTU.
2. Continuing international graduate students: | Phase one: The applicants’ qualifications will be first reviewed by the Office of International Affairs. | | Phase two: The application materials of applicants who pass the above review will be delivered to the corresponding committee in each college. The committee will rank the applicants in the college based on the applicants’ grades, progress and other performances. | | Phase three: The International Students Scholarship Review Committee of NTU will decide the final awardees. |

| IX | Restriction of Scholarship Granting
The number of scholarship winners from any given country shall not exceed one-third of the total number of awards. |

| X | The Restriction on Department Assistant and Scholarship Overlapping Receiving | 1. | Scholarship awardees may not receive any other scholarships sponsored by Ministries of Taiwan government as Taiwan scholarship, general scholarships of Ministry of Education and any other full scholarship. (A full scholarship means that the amount of the scholarship equals or more than the NTU International Graduate Students Scholarship.) | | 2. | If a scholarship awardee was confirmed for receiving more than one full scholarship, the scholarship will be terminated immediately, and the duplicate received amount will be reclaimed. |

| XI | | When in dispute, these guidelines are superseded by NTU and MOE regulations. |
|  |  | | XII | | This regulation comes into effect up on the approval of the Administrative Committee. |
