我觉得最重要的还是想清楚自己将来想做什么，什么是自己喜欢做的，这样做起来才会长久，有动力，才比较容易坚持。

我在美国工作了一年，然后派回中国半年，现在也辞职了，打算申请MBA. 所以和你类似。兄弟加油

As far as I know, the downside of resigning from your current position and making prepartion full time is that you will have gap of "work experience", because the time spent for making preparation cannot be counted as "experience". However, as long as this time period is not too long（no more than a year), it should be ok. I know quite a number of people make preparation ful-time.
